When does Hilltop Membership "Open" and "Close"?

AmeriGas Membership price protection is valid from July 1 through the end of the following June. Enrollment opens officially July 1 and ends at the end of November with a date TBD.

Irving Energy Membership price protection is valid from June 1 through May 1. Enrollment opens officially June 1 and ends at the end of February with a date TBD.

What are next steps after I enroll?

AmeriGas: Nothing more to do, you’re all set! Hilltop submits your information within 12-24 hours and you’ll be in the AmeriGas system in 24-72 hours. You’re covered under member pricing from the time/date of enrollment.

Irving Energy: Wait several days and call Irving to get into your contract (fixed rate only) and provide them the 4 digit PIN number 6448 from your confirmation email. Irving Customer Service: 1-888-310-1924

If I get a delivery before joining am I covered?

NO. Membership can not be back dated and will only cover deliveries of fuel moving forward. No exceptions

What are Hilltop membership fees?

Membership fees* are annual and renew automatically (Subscription) in May. "Membership" covers 1 household, location, or physical address with a single fuel plan.

Are all my properties covered under Membership?

NO. Basic membership includes 1 fuel plan for a single address, household or residence. You can however create additional memberships for each property.

Can I combine my gallons across all my properties to get a better price?

NO. Pricing is determined by the fuel provider by your usage from the previous year based on a single address, household, or property.

So if you have a primary home and a vacation home you can not combine the usage to get into a better pricing tier. You also need a separate membership for each property and usage for each property.

Can I get a refund?

YES if you request a refund no later than August 1st. under a current membership season.

ex: If you join in July 2024 and change your mind you can request a refund as long as it’s by August 1, 2024. After August 1, 2024 no refunds will be issued. This is to avoid someone joining, getting a delivery under Hilltops discount and then canceling their account.

How do fuel providers determine my discounted rate?

The pricing tier for the current year is determined by your propane usage from the previous year. Amerigas maintains the authority to modify the pricing tier you've chosen based on last year's usage, without exceptions. Thus, you cannot subscribe to a pricing tier that does not align with your previous year's usage.

How do I cancel my membership?

»

You can cancel your Membership anytime by logging into your account or contacting Hilltop. Refunds for a current membership year must happen prior to Aug 1, no refunds will be issued after that date - no exceptions.

How do I manage membership profile and payment method?

You can log in to your account from the top menu bar. From there, you can recover your password and update your delivery address and payment methods.

Can I enroll multiple addresses?

»

YES. Please enroll each property under a separate membership. Each property will have pricing based on annual usage independently from other properties you enroll.

Can I enroll a business?

»

YES. A business can enroll under an AmeriGas plan. Unfortunately Irving Energy does not allow us to facilitate business accounts. If your business uses over 4000 gallons of propane the Member rate is $200. You can select this option when checking out. Hilltop Discounts do not apply to businesses over 4000+ gallons.

Can I join if I don't use one of your fuel providers?

YES, there are a few more steps involved in changing providers and setting up service, but the savings are well worth it. Refer to the FAQ topic titled 'New customer, setting up service with Amerigas' for more instructions."

Can I join if I am already customer with one of your fuel providers?

»

YES. None of your account preferences change except for the rate you pay for fuel. Delivery method and payment method all stay the same.

Why is my only choice for membership a subscription?

»

Currently, 90% of members are subscribed to Hilltop's subscription model. We've received an influx of calls from non-subscription members who mistakenly believed they were enrolled, resulting in their memberships lapsing and missing out on Hilltop's discounts.

I don’t see my order confirmation in my inbox?

»

Always check your spam/junk mail folder after you enroll, the confirmation email is sent instantly and if you don’t see it in your in-box it is probably in junk/spam mail folder.

You can set a rule in your mail application to recognize and not mark our emails as spam.

Why didn’t I get a notification from Hilltop about membership being open?

Frequently, our emails may end up in your Junk or Spam folder and go unnoticed. The most reliable method to receive notifications is by following us on Facebook. Additionally, you can establish rules in your email application to recognize our email address, hilltopenergy@icloud.com and hilltop-energy-buyers-group@in.outseta.com.

Our new subscription model will eliminate many members need to be updated when membership opens.

Is Hilltop Energy my fuel provider?

NO. Hilltop negotiates and arranges discounted fuel plans with the fuel providers. Your relationship with the fuel providers is independent of Hilltop, and any billing or delivery issues should be addressed directly with your provider.”

Do I need to sign a contract?

»



Irving Energy: For fixed rate fuel plans with Irving Energy, a contract is necessary. It may take 24-72 hours for your membership to be processed into Irving's system, so it's advisable to wait a few days after joining before contacting Irving. When you do call, please provide the 4-digit PIN number 6448 to identify yourself as a Hilltop member. Rack-Plus plans do not require a contract

I called Irving and was told I am not in the system?

This is not unusual. Usually, it takes 24-72 hours for your information to be entered and visible in their system. Please wait a few days and then call Irving again. If the issue persists, please contact Hilltop.

What happens if Hilltop runs out of fixed rate gallons?

»

In the event that Hilltop's reserved "Fixed" gallons are all consumed by members and replacement gallons cannot be secured, then any remaining gallons you receive will be delivered at a "Variable" or "Rack-Plus" rate.

Note: Hilltop has never run out of fixed gallons but if we did you would still benefit from substantial savings.

New customer, setting up service with AmeriGas.

Contact Keith by phone, text, or email to obtain the "New Customer" phone number. Customer service will furnish you with "Next Step" instructions. Here's the process:

1. Please dial the "New Customer" hotline and specifically request to speak with a Vermont Customer Service Representative (serving all states under Hilltop). They are well-versed in our program and possess comprehensive knowledge about the benefits of AmeriGas membership.

2. Set up a new account and obtain the account number for the Hilltop membership form.

3. If you own your underground tank: AmeriGas will dispatch a technician to test the anode bag. If it passes, they can deliver propane to it. If it fails, they will provide an estimate for repairs.

4. If a competitor owns the underground tank: AmeriGas will send a technician to test the anode bag. If it passes, they will perform a "tank swap" and take over ownership of the tank. If it fails, they will provide an estimate for repairs.

You can establish your Hilltop membership prior to creating your account with AmeriGas.

Tank Rental Fee Waived.

Vermont: Fee waived if you use 80% or more of the volume of each tank.
Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island: Fee waived if you use twice the volume of each tank. Tanks are filled to 80% volume - so a 1000 gal tank you would need to use 1600 gallons.

Fixed vs. Variable Rate

Fixed Rate: This is your "Locked Into" rate and remains unchanged throughout the duration of your membership as specified by the Terms of your AmeriGas Agreement (July 1 - end of June). This plan is ideal for navigating a volatile market, providing stability and enabling effective budgeting. To qualify you must meet the 200 Gal annual minimum.



Variable Rate: Fluctuates weekly and is posted on the Hilltop website every Tuesday, remaining valid until the following Tuesday. You pay the rate at the time of delivery, not the order date. Membership automatically enrolls you in auto-delivery with the fuel provider, unless you're authorized for a "Will Call" delivery schedule. Pricing format valid July 1 - end of June.

I don't have a fuel history. How do I know what plan to sign up for?

This information will help them formulate an estimated usage figure to assist you.

Ultimately you can make a guesstimate to create a baseline. The following year you will be under the pricing tier based on your actual usage for the current year.

What is my delivery timeframe?

If you place your order online, you will receive an email confirmation and a delivery window (date range) will display in  your online account. If you are an automatic delivery customer, this window will not show online, but if you elect to receive text messages from us in your online preferences, you will receive a text message confirmation within a few days of your delivery.

Please note that delivery times may be impacted by weather and other unpredictable events. Do not wait until you are out of fuel to order fuel!

Can I request a delivery online if I'm enrolled in automatic delivery?

Customers with automatically scheduled deliveries do not need to place an order, our system automatically generates your delivery order. You can view your scheduled deliveries by selecting “Deliveries/Scheduled Deliveries”. If you are in need of a delivery in addition to what would normally be scheduled, please call customer service at 1-800-263-7442.

Can I place an order online for propane delivery?

YES, eligible customers can request a propane delivery online. If you are eligible to request a delivery online, you will see the "Request A Delivery" option within the Deliveries menu. If you do not see this option, please contact customer service to request a delivery. Note: If you already have an open order, you will not see an option to place an additional order.

How do I cancel or modify and existing delivery order?

To cancel or modify an existing online or telephone delivery order, please call our customer service agents at 1-800-263-7442 or chat with us, online.

What should I do if I'm an Automatic Delivery customer but am worried about running out before my delivery?

»

If you’re an Automatic Delivery customer, confirm on the "Account Summary" or "Scheduled Deliveries" pages that you have a delivery pending. If an order is listed, we are working to fulfill your order and a delivery is scheduled or in the process of being scheduled. If you do not have an order listed and your current tank % is <10%, please contact customer service at 1-800-263-7442 for an urgent delivery. Please ask the office to review your usage factors for scheduling automatic deliveries to improve the accuracy of the system going forward.

Do not wait until you are out of fuel to order fuel!

When should I order fuel?

In the winter time you should place an order when your tanks are no lower than 30%. In the summer when usage is lower you can order around 20%. If you have an online account with AmeriGas you can login and check to see the tank percentage AmeriGas has for you and make adjustments to the record as needed.Please Note: Extreme weather and unforeseen events can interfere with delivery schedules and your order can be as far out as 10 days.

Do not wait until you are out of fuel to order fuel!

I am almost out of propane.

If you do not have an order listed and your current tank % is <10%, please contact customer service at 1-800-263-7442 for an urgent delivery. Please ask the office to review your usage factors for scheduling automatic deliveries to improve the accuracy of the system going forward.

Please refrain from contacting Hilltop for resolving delivery issues, we do not have the ability to influence or schedule deliveries regardless of the circumstances.

My last fuel delivery was not at the discounted member rate, now what?

Call: (866) 771-2010 and press “zero” to speak with an operator and bypass the automated system. Once your membership has been confirmed your account will be credited and your rate adjusted for future billing.

Please refrain from contacting Hilltop for resolving billing issues, it is the responsibility of the member to resolve billing issues regardless of the circumstances.

Hilltop submits member information typically the next day after enrollment but it may take up to 72 hours for your information to propagate their system. If all your efforts fail please feel free to reach out to Keith

Can I view my bill online?

»

Yes. Login to your MyAmeriGas account. Select the Billing & Payments dropdown menu, then select the View Invoices option.

Do I have to make my monthly payment if I have a credit on my account?

»

Yes. Even if you have a credit balance on your account, you need to make your monthly payments in order to remain enrolled in a budget pay (Convenience Pay, AmeriGuard, or HIlltop) program. The goal of the budget pay program is to build a credit on your account to apply toward future deliveries made during the program year. The program is designed to spread the annual cost of propane over the term of the contract.

Do I need to sign a contract?

Amerigas: Hilltop serves as the contract for members under AmeriGas. However, new customers who are moving over and require a new underground tank may need to sign a contract.

Do I have to pay my invoice if I have a credit on my Pre Buy contract?

»

Yes. As a Pre-Buy customer you may receive invoices for items not included in your contract, such as service, which are due on the date specified on the invoice. You can see your bill  in detail by going to the All Account Activity screen and selecting "View Invoice". 

How do I sign up for Convenience Pay or Automatic Delivery?

Eligible customers can sign up for Automatic Delivery or Convenience Pay online in their MyAmeriGas account.  You can enroll in Automatic Delivery by selecting the "enroll in Automatic Delivery" button within the Tanks and Deliveries section. The Offers and Promotions selection will show Convenience Pay if it is available to you. Both of these options may require credit terms.

What is Tank Rental?

When the tank is owned by AmeriGas and leased to the customer, you agree to pay annual tank rent during the period the leased equipment is installed at your residence. The amount of the rent can vary by geography and may be affected by, among other things, the size of the tank(s) and your actual annual usage.

What does "tank owner" mean?

The propane equipment on your property is either leased and owned by AmeriGas (Company Owned), or owned by you (Customer Owned). If Company Owned Equipment displays on the “Tank Information” page, you lease the tank on your property. If Customer Owned Equipment displays on the “Tank Information” page, you own the tank on your property.

How is my tank level estimated?

AmeriGas uses predictive software that takes into account the appliances that you use in your home as well as weather. Prior use may also be used as part of the equation. If you are a customer set up for automatic delivery, we will automatically generate an order for you when we estimate your tank level to be at a certain percentage. (Typically 30%, but can vary.)

The following steps can be done before or after you create an account with Irving.

1. Call Irving Customer Service: 1-888-310-1924

2. Set up a new account and obtain the account number for the Hilltop membership form.

1. Check your email for the confirmation email. If you don't see it please check your junk/spam folder.

2. Your Hilltop 4 digit PIN number that you are required to provide to Irving is in the email. Wait 24-48 hours and call Irving with your PIN, this identifies you as a paid member. Please note it takes up to 48 hours for your data to propagate the Irving system, if you are told you are not in the system please wait another day and call again.

3. If you are in a fixed rate plan you are required to enter into a contract for the season under the rate you locked in under.

Failure to do any of the above will result in you not being protected under the Hilltop price protection program - no exception.

Irving Fees.

Currently, Irving does not charge any hazmat, delivery, or tank rental fees.Any questions regarding fees are best communicated directly with Irving. Please call Irving Customer Service at 1-888-310-1924. Additional answers to commonly asked questions can be viewed in the Irving FAQs section found on this page.

Pressure Test / New Customers.
A mandatory Irving leak or pressure test fee of $99 for new propane customers is required to offset associated operational costs. Any work as a result of the inspection will require an additional fee for time and material.
